The search for the perfect Twitter app

While my Twitter addiction is not quite as strong as it used to be I still check in daily.  99% of this browsing is done via my iphone and therefore I’ve been on a quest since getting my phone to find my perfect 3rd party Twitter application

I’m pretty sure that I have bought or downloaded every Twitter app available from the app store but yet I’ve not managed to find one that has all the features I’d like.  Most of these features are out there but getting them all in one app?  Not yet.

Currently I’m using Twittelator Pro which is definitely heading in the right direction but is missing what I feel are some useful functions.

So here it is, a list of everything I’d like in my Twitter app (on top of the standard features), feel free to add to this list and perhaps a developer may take note.

  • Conversation thread display
  • Store Drafts/Compose tweets
  • Twitlonger integration
  • Ability to choose own choice of URL shortner (my preferred choice is http://www.tweet.me.it due to the analytics)
  • Create groups/favourite twitterers
  • Multiple account handling/easy to switch between accounts
  • Tweet scheduling (similar to http://www.hootsuite.com)
  • Trends
  • Local search - Display twitterers on a map
  • Geotagging functionality - ability to turn on and off
  • Multimedia integration - Video, Photos, Audio
  • Instapaper integation
  • Mute option - lets you temporarily mute a twitterer rather than unfollow them
  • Push notifications - options = @ Reply, DM, @ Reply and DM
  • User/Friend Directory - Contact book style list of your friends
  • Swipe horizontally to star as a favourite/reply
  • Landscape mode
  • Multiple Multimedia hosts - useful if twitpic etc goes down
  • Audioboo integration
  • Pressing reply within a DM means you send a message, not a public reply!
  • Tweet/User Analytics - No. of tweets per day, No. of retweets, time of day a user is most active
  • Hashtag Analytics - Enter a hashtag and get - No. of uses, the tweet it was first used in, detail of who created it.

So that’s that.  Please add your wants to the list below and if you are a developer I’d love to help beta test your apps!
