Making History

By pure chance this post, and it’s subject matter, coincide nicely with the news that Cadbury has been bought out by the global dominating cheesemeisters, Kraft.

Apart from daydreaming about some sort of savoury Easter eggs from Kraftbury (take a moment to think of the aceness of savoury Easter eggs!…) I’ve been having a play around with a new website called WeVee which, in their own words, ‘gives anyone the chance to view clips from the region’s fantastic archive collections of film and video, edit them to tracks and make a short ‘mash-up’.

Pay attention and look out for the strange man with the odd hands playing the bells.

The region in question is the West Midlands and this project has been brought about by a collaboration between Screen WM, Television Junction, Clusta and the UK Film Council.  While I appreciate that you might instantly think that if you’re not in the Midlands then it’s nothing really to do with you then you may be right but the archive is an interesting look into the past no matter where you’re from and it’s fun to have a play around.

Hopefully with time the archive will have more video added to it and the ability to edit audio tracks would be a great feature (and seamless mixing or fades between clips)

Go check it out and remix history.
